It’s late September and my favourite time or year, autumn. Autumn fashion is my favourite because we can start layering up and wearing coats. I know September may seem premature for winter coat shopping but it’s the ideal time.
Winter coats are being released now so there are lots to choose from and stock levels are usually pretty good. When it gets deep into winter it can be harder to find the right coat.
When looking for a winter coat I gravitate towards those that are a classic colour, have a high wool content and are long (past the knee). I always size up with my coats as I think an oversized look is more effortless. Also, in practical terms, an oversized coat is better for layering as it’s more comfortable to wear with chunky knits underneath.
I’ve found 5 wool coats that are timeless and (at time of writing) stock levels are good.
If you’re looking for a classic black coat, this andotherstories coat is brilliant. It’s double-breasted and has beautiful peaked lapels.
I love this beige Mango coat. It comes with a matching scarf and looks like a more expensive designer coat by Toteme.
If you prefer something more colourful, this Remain boucle-tweed coat is a beauty. Although the coat is colourful the colours are all very classic (white, green, brown and blue) so will pair well with similarly coloured pieces.
This H&M coat is top of my wishlist. It’s such a good shade of green and the dropped shoulder gives it more of a relaxed look.
A navy coat is smart and understated but less severe than a black coat. The texture of this COS coat looks looks so cozy and it’ll be super warm in the height of winter.
Happy autumn and I hope you find the winter coat that's perfect for you.
